MARTIN BENZ ÜBER:

Pierre Du Mont – Heritage Pack

Benz: This wine series is a tribute to Pierre DuMont and the Huguenots who emigrated with him from France and who had a significant influence on the future of winemaking in South Africa. Pierre DuMont from Calais came to the Cape Colony in 1696. DuMont first settled in De Paarl Diamant in the Drakenstein region, from where he moved to De Zoete Inval with his wife Cecilia d'Atis, who is considered one of the first female winemakers in South Africa. According to historical documents, in 1712 Pierre and Cecilia were the proud owners of three horses, 100 cattle, 450 sheep and 13,000 vines. The DuMonts contributed significantly to the development of viticulture in the region. Their experience and expertise from France helped them to make the most of local conditions. Over time, they established themselves as respected winemakers and laid the foundations for a thriving wine industry in South Africa. Included in the package: 1x Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 This wine captivates with its vibrant aromas of red cherries, spring plums and hibiscus tea. On the palate, layers of melted fruit and glazed cherries unfold, leading to a core of blackcurrant. Fresh acidity and a mineral backbone lift the taste, while fruit-coated tannins slowly melt into a juicy, fruity finish. A truly vibrant and complex wine! RRP: 10 CHF 1x Merlot 2021 This wine evokes nostalgic memories of summer with its scent of red dust and new leather. Aromas of cherries, cocoa and spicy green herbs unfold generously on the dark red palate, accompanied by a hint of balsam and iodine. The lively and tangy acidity caresses the palate, while the plump tannins fade gently towards the finish, resonating in a fruity blend of chocolate and cherries. A truly memorable and complex wine! RRP: 10 CHF 1x Seven Centuries 2022 This wine unfolds a complex bouquet of dark roses, violets and wild roses, underlined by resin and tobacco leaf. The lively and complex aromas are introduced by cool blue fruits, which turn into silky plums and lead to a modern, juicy core. The delicate structure combines the stony acidity of the Breedekloof with the strong red fruits of the Swartland. The tannins are accordingly complex and light. The finish is dominated by red and black cherries, accompanied by hints of smoke and spices. An elegant and complex wine! RRP: 10 CHF 1xChardonnay 2023 This wine conveys a sense of calm and light-filled austerity. The aromas develop slowly and subtly: steel-cut apples, refreshing and snappy. Pear peel, lemon cream and a hint of vanilla spice. On the palate, the wine presents itself as pure as ice, with a hint of sea salt that fades around the edges. Lime folds in slightly, leading to a core of pear and apple fruit. A bright line of lime acidity lingers on the finish with a hint of saltiness. An elegant and complex wine! RRP: 9.20 CHF 1x Chenin Blanc 2023 This wine unfolds a complex bouquet reminiscent of freshly cut marble, with notes of yellow apples, tree sap, twigs and white flowers. The palate reveals layers of stone fruit, juicy and fleshy peaches, marked by a Breedekloof summer. This vibrancy develops into a satin texture of creamy pear, framed by lime drops that are fruity-sweet and tangy. The acidity glides through the palate, orange and vibrant, leading to a spicy finish with quince paste and lime. An elegant and layered wine! RRP: 9.20 CHF 1x Sauvignon Blanc 2023 This wine unfolds cool aromas that evoke the image of ice crystallizing in the darkness. The fresh notes depict the cold granite of the Breedekloof, crossed by the icy breeze of the wild Atlantic at Elim. The scent of spring weaves in - a field of heather, followed by tangy gooseberry, lime and passion fruit. At the first sip, these fruits are reflected and unfold in a joyful swirl. Light and juicy, passion fruit and citrus dance to a long, lingering lemony finish. A refreshing and complex wine! RRP: 9.20 CHF

Pierre DuMont:
