Gabriëlskloof ist die Verwirklichung eines Traums für den Südafrikaner Bernhard Heyns. 2001 fand er eine damalige Rapsfarm namens „Avontuur“. Dass die Lage das Potenzial hat, hochwertige Weine mit unverwechselbarem Charakter zu produzieren, war schnell klar und bewiesen. Die Vision von Gabriëlskloof ist es, erlesene Weine zu produzieren, die die Komplexität, den Reichtum und die Vielfalt eines einzigartigen Terroirs widerspiegeln. Sie bemühen sich, dies so umweltschonend wie möglich zu tun und respektieren dabei jederzeit die Artenvielfalt der Region. Die Böden lassen keine hohen Erträge zu und alle Weinberge des Anwesens werden seit dem ersten Tag mit größter Sorgfalt gepflegt. Alle Weinbergsarbeiten werden von Hand ausgeführt und Nachhaltigkeit hat Vorrang bei allen Entscheidungen, die im Weinberg getroffen werden, was sich in ihrem Status als Biodiversitäts- und Weinchampion widerspiegelt.
