El Bandito The Dark Side 2016

Benz: Uniquely pure Syrah from a small (0.75ha) vineyard, planted in 2000 on weathered granite soils on Paardeberg in the Swartland. First impression on the nose: Red and black berries, a touch of reduction and slightly earthy notes. Pure fruit on the palate, fresh acidity, firm tannins and a particularly savory finish.

Testalonga

TESTALONGA gehört Craig und Carla Hawkins.
Es wurde 2008 gegründet, wobei der erste Wein ein vierwöchiger, auf der Haut mazerierter Chenin Blanc war.
Die Hawkins mieten derzeit 11 ha biologisch bewirtschaftete Weinberge, die alle auf den Granitböden des Paardebergs wachsen, und 4 ha auf den Sandsteinböden des Piketbergs.
In 2015 kauften sie eine Farm namens Bandits Kloof auf den Schiefer-/Sandsteinböden der nördlichen Berge von Swartland.
Dort wurden 2018 die ersten Weinberge gepflanzt, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf mediterranen Rebsorten liegt.
Craig Hawkins tourte durch komplett Europa und Südafrika, um bei so vielen Winzern wie möglich zu arbeiten und alles aufzusaugen, was so an Weinerfahrung möglich ist.
Mittlerweile nennt ihn die Weinbranche „the most exciting winemaker to hit the South African wine scene“.
