Eenzaamheit

unity

The Eenzaamheit farm is more than 300 years old. The name "Eenzaamheit" translates to solitude and is a reference to the estate's isolation from Cape Town. Sheep farming is the oldest land use of Eenzaamheid, dating back to the late 1600s. The Briers-Louw family has been the custodian of this beautiful estate for over 180 years. Now in the seventh generation, it is Janno Briers-Louw who leads the dry winemaking. Dry winemaking refers to the cultivation of vines that are completely dependent on natural rainfall as a water source. In dry conditions, the vines produce smaller berries with a higher skin-to-juice ratio and more intense flavors. The Mediterranean climate and deep slate soils of the Agter-Paarl region are reflected in the unique character of the fine and distinctive wines.
